BDI Worldwide Case Study
Project Scope
Bearing Distributors Inc. (BDI), a leading supplier and service provider to manufacturing companies throughout the world, is experiencing tremendous growth and worldwide expansion. The organization, headquartered in Cleveland, OH, needed a clean, central Web presence for worldwide branch locations, satellite offices and customers to easily obtain information.
The Challenge
BDI engaged IdeaStar to design and develop a cutting edge landing page to direct users to specific country Web sites. The page needed to be inviting and reflect BDI’s global aspirations. In addition, BDI required a tool to manage Web sites for Canada, Mexico, the United States, India, China, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Netherlands, Hungary, Czech Republic and Belgium, many of which are written in a different language.
The Solution
The IdeaStar design team created an attractive landing page including subtle animation to direct visitors to the appropriate country’s Web site. To manage the numerous sites, IdeaStar developers enhanced Creatasphere™, its content management system, to include multi-lingual capabilities. This allows the user to select a language preference with a simple click of the mouse, and the administrator to easily translate and save pages.
The Results
BDI now has a cohesive network of Web sites collected under one landing page for easy access. www.bdiworldwide.com is an inviting, easy-to-use Web page which directs visitors to the appropriate site. BDI administrators can easily choose which language translation(s) to post, and, site users may easily select their language preference from a drop-down menu. New countries may also be added as BDI continues to grow. (Content is currently being translated offline, and the language selection option may not yet be available to Web site viewers.)
