UNM Ticketing: Enhanced Marketing and Easier Sales
The Project Scope
The University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque, proud home of the fighting Lobos, is also recognized for its academic excellence and exceptional event facilities. From the UNM Arena – widely known as The Pit - to Popejoy Hall over to The X for experimental theater, the university hosts numerous sporting and cultural events. Approximately $14-to-$15 million in tickets are sold annually. Like many leading institutions, the UNM needed an online ticketing box office.
The Challenge
UNM was installing the latest version of ENTA, the box-office ticketing system by Galathea. UNM Ticketing Services asked IdeaStar to connect the ENTA system to its Web site and provide a “fresh face” for its home site www.unmtickets.com. The site needed to look sharp, be easy-to-use, easy-to-update, and able to interact with existing or future online ticketing clients. Ticket purchasing needed to be only a few clicks away for all UNM venues, including UNM Arena, UNM Stadium, Popejoy Hall, Rodey Theatre, Keller Hall, Experimental Theatre “X,” Woodward Hall, Carlisle Studio, and the Student Union Ballroom.
The Solution
UNM Ticketing Services states its mission is “to provide excellence in customer service for Arts and Athletics patrons in acquiring both season and individual tickets for events associated with the University...." IdeaStar and Galathea STS worked closely with UNM Ticketing Services to help make that happen. www.unmtickets.com is now colorful and eye-catching, with designated areas for arts and athletic events. Site visitors may view events and purchase tickets in a few clicks. A content management system is included, which allows non-technical administrators to keep the site updated. UNM can also install rotating advertisements using the content manager.
The Results
UNM Ticketing now can sell tickets to multiple events through its own Web site box office system which will cut costs in the future. The site is simple, easy-to-use, and reflects the excitement of events at the University of New Mexico.
