IdeaStar Named a 2005 Weatherhead 100 Award Winner
November 22, 2005 - IdeaStar Inc. is honored to be named a 2005 Weatherhead 100 award winner. The award is presented by the Case Weatherhead School of Management in partnership with COSE, the Council of Smaller Enterprises.
IdeaStar President James D. (Jim) Fisher said, “We are thrilled with this accomplishment. When we began in 1999, one of our goals was to make this list. Little did we know a tech industry bust and a recession were coming. This makes this achievement all the more incredible.”
The award “identifies and honors the 100 fastest growing companies (in Northeast Ohio) based on sales from 2000 through 2004. Companies must have had sales over $100,000 in 2000 and over $1 million in 2004. Additionally, winning companies must have employed a minimum of 16 full-time employees in 2004.”
IdeaStar is a full-service Web development firm which designs, programs, promotes and manages leading-edge Web sites and e-business applications. The company focuses on providing Web services to four main market segments: Insurance and financial, manufacturing and distribution, events and performing arts, and small enterprise.
One of IdeaStar’s major accomplishments includes launching the first paperless quote-through-issue e-commerce system for a major health insurance carrier in 2000. The system is now the carrier’s largest and most profitable line of business. IdeaStar’s insurance applications have already won three national awards, most recently a Gold Award for e-commerce from the Professional Insurance Marketing Association.
In 2004, IdeaStar developed and integrated the online ticketing system for a major performing arts festival, with annual ticket sales in the millions of dollars. And, an IdeaStar application powers the inter-continental portal of a major lighting products manufacturer, bringing together factory operations in China and its distribution network in the USA.
Finally, IdeaStar is involved in supporting charitable and non-profit groups, including Project Love, The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, Phillis Wheatley Association, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Scholarship Committee.
